The Fruit of our Labor...and Veggie!!

This year we planted a garden, and boy was it a ton of work! We enjoyed it though, and got buckets of good food. We planted sweet corn, watermelon, green beans, squash, zucchini, eggplant, banana peppers, bell peppers, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, and butternut squash. We had a spot in our garden that nothing would grow, so unfortunately the cucumber, radishes, and a lot of the tomatoes didn't actually grow. It was awesome though cause the squash plants were nearly to my shoulders. Everything that did grow, grew well! We have a abundance to eat, and we've been just giving it away. It was a lot of fun, and I think in the fall we will be doing potatoes of various types, and whatever else grows! Here are some pictures so you can see a little of what we did. We weighed our watermelon before we cut it, and it was 34 pounds. That is the picture of the cut one, and the one that wasn't cut was a little smaller. There is a jar of baby food to compare the size to!

Happy Birthday to YOU........

I'm sure most of you know this, but Logan was almost born on Dustin's birthday. So this week we've been celebrating Dustin's birthday on the 14th and Logan's on the 16th. We didn't do a huge party for Dustin, but I did bake him a cake and fix him a big dinner at his request. For Logan we had a little party with my family. It wasn't too big, because lets face it he really didn't care! We had fun though eating pizza, opening presents, and eating cake with ice cream. There is a caption below the first picture, but it won't show up. Anyways Logan is showing everyone he's 1 year old! I had some of his smiling, but this was is great cause he's holding up his pointer finger. I'd like to say he's so smart he knows what he's doing, but the true is, I just caught him at the right time!!!

Dustin wouldn't cooperate for the picture, so this is as good as it gets. Logan put his hand in Daddy's cake and we had fun putting sprinkles and writing on it.
Logan was trying to share his cake, but he wasn't very willing to share his kisses!

Camping

For the 4th of July weekend we went to Albert Pike in Arkansas with my family and all our friends. I think in total we had about 28 people there. This place is absolutely beautiful with natural streams and creeks that wrap around miles and miles of mountains. There are really deep swimming holes that you hike to with crystal clean waters and beautiful fish that you'd think would be in an aquarium. The kids spent most of the time swimming in our campsite swimming hole catching crayfish and tadpoles. On Friday we hiked about 2 miles through the winding staircase where the cliffs are about 10ft and 15 ft and you jump off of them. The kids found a rope swing and we had a blast swimming for about 3 or 4 hours. The next day we drove forever to another swimming hole that was about a 3-5 mile hike where there were more cliff for jumping about 20-30 ft high. The cool thing about the 2nd hole is there were hot springs that fed into the swimming hole so in some spots it was REALLY cold and in other it was like bath water. The fun thing about both hikes is you wade through about 4 rivers before you actually get there, so it cools ya down along the way. Well besides great food, tons of mosquitoes, chiggers, and bugs that's about all our 4th of July weekend consisted of. We had a blast being with family and friends.
